I also have model #169209. ERo5 comes up rather frequently on my display. I live in Europe and the tap water here has a high amount of calcium, etc. I've found through trial and error that if you fill the pot up diluted 1/1 of vinegar water solution, pour it in, and hold down the clean cycle button for 5 seconds, it will take out the impurities which have built up inside. After that, I can expect to be error message free for atleast a month. Also, you may want to consider bottled water for coffee making.

I have model #169209 and I kept getting errors, I would unplug it to reset it like my insturctions said and now the pot lights up but it won't perk now. What do I need to do. I have had my pot for 3 months. I always use this brand and the last coffee maker I had for around 2 years, so I don't think this is normal. The error was mainly #3 for about a month, so I would push the TBS to get it to finish brewing. What is my next step? I don't have the money to go out and purchase another one.

Coffee Dad: This new model is having many problems like the old one that was recalled. Take it back to Walmart and they should replace it.

need to know how to set timer so coffe is ready in the morning

Coffee Dad: Update: Nearly 1 million General Electric coffee makers sold at Walmart are being recalled after dozens of reports of overheating, smoking, burning and fires.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission, which announced the recall Thursday, said Walmart has received 83 complaints about the GE-branded coffee maker, including three reports of minor burns to consumers’ bodies.
The reports of property damage include a significant kitchen fire and damage to countertops, cabinets and a wall, said the CPSC.
The recall involves about 900,000 GE 12-cup digital coffee makers sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide.
The coffee makers, with the GE logo printed on the base, were sold in white or black from March 2008 through January of this year. The model numbers involved are 169164 and 169165.
Consumers are advised to immediately stop using these coffee makers and return them to any Walmart for a full refund.

Thank you for this info! My unit is still stuck; it won't brew or run the hot plate after this however.

Coffee Dad: Don't know what else to do. Possible return to wallyworld for swap-out. They usually will without a receipt.
